Video Subject & Artist Statement (this may be publicly posted):
Movies put us in touch with faces we’ve never met, and likely never will meet. Yet the great faces of Chinese cinema, whether it’s Ruan Lingyu in THE GODDESS or Wei Wei in SPRING IN A SMALL TOWN, continue to inspire us every day with their courage and humanity.
To understand China — as it was then, as it is now, and for generations to come — one should look no further than images projected at twenty-four frames a second.

Anything else you'd like to tell us:
Growing up in Los Angeles as a son of Chinese immigrants, I developed awareness for my cultural roots through the language of films. As a team of second-year graduate MFA students at the USC School of Cinematic Arts Rachel and I look to incorporate China\'s rich cinematic tradition into our future careers as writers directors and storytellers in Hollywood. We hope this video encourages our peers to explore the history of Chinese films and the people who fought the odds to make them.
